Lab Technician – Day Shift

Summary: Performs testing on various plastic products (bags, wraps & various film types) using established test methods and various lab equipment.

1. Physical Properties Dry Testing Laboratory

a. Physical testing of sample products (Will learn up to 40 test methods)

b. Batchmaking

c. Data reporting to client

d. Data management

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Accurately prepare, cut, and test samples using approved methods and equipment.
• Confirm and use approved test methods, equipment, and fixtures to assure conformance to each test methodology.
• Perform necessary mathematical calculations where/when required.
• Record tested attributes and variables into proper format (electronic or written) and maintain accurate back up filing system, deliver test results to lab manager in a timely fashion.
• Maintain good laboratory controls and documentation of testing records.
• Maintain a fully stocked lab with needed supplies.
• Maintain a clean and organized environment.
• Report any equipment/maintenance or safety issues to proper authority promptly.
• Assist in trouble shooting problems with test equipment, fixtures, electronics and any general lab equipment needed for daily lab production.
• Reports any issues effecting efficiencies or priorities directly to Lab Manager.
• Assist research staff in scheduling and placing environmental product studies.
• Perform basic operations of the database including, entering data and pulling data reports.
• Seamlessly communicate with the Lab Manager to assure all testing will be completed accurately and within the required timing.
• Perform any other general duties that may be assigned such as prototyping, cleaning, etc.

Preferred Job Requirements

• Good interpersonal skills – ability to work with others in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to read and interpret verbal & written test methods, procedures & directions
• Skills in Microsoft Word, Excel & Outlook
• Preferred experience in using Tensile / Compression testing, software
• Maintain a clean and organized environment.
